Advantages of sulfur hexafluoride gas
Published on:2017-10-25 Click:185Sulfur hexafluoride gas has excellent insulation and arc extinguishing properties. To date only certain gas mixtures(e.g.*Plant 1*)have been found and used.Or SF6 a air)can be used as insulation, but used as arc extinguishing is not as good as pure sulfur hexafluoride gas.
Sulfur hexafluoride is a century-old gas that was synthesized in 1900 by two French chemists,Moissan and Lebeau, and made commercially available in 1947.Currently SF6 gas is mainly used in the electric power industry. The gas is used in 4 types of electrical equipment as insulation and/or arc extinguishing;Circuit breakers and load switchgear, insulated transmission lines, transformers and insulated substations. From the gas consumption,80%for high school pressure switching equipment.
Sulfur hexafluoride gas is suitable for power equipment, because it is mainly because of strong electronegativity, excellent arc extinguishing performance;High insulation strength,at atmospheric pressure for air 3 times;Good thermal conductivity and easy to compound, especially when the gas dissociates due to discharge or arc action; It can be stored in a small gas tank, because it is easy to liquefy under pressure at room temperature.Gas supply is convenient, the price is not expensive and stable.
Therefore, sulfur hexafluoride manufacturers in the present situation do not have a medium or mixture of media such good performance to completely replace it.
