China has invested heavily in the construction of coal to oil and coal to natural gas plants. However, coal seam gas and coke oven gas in coal mines are largely wasted, and coke oven gas produced by coal coke is largely exhausted every year. According to the estimation of relevant experts from Sinopec, in 2004 alone, the methane emission from coal mine ventilation in China reached 14 billion cubic meters, exceeding the 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas in a year of "West East Gas Transmission". The energy content of methane natural gas wasted every year in China is equivalent to the annual natural gas transmission volume of eight "West East Gas Transmission" projects, that is, 100 billion cubic meters of methane and other natural gas. In the coal to oil industry, 4000 kg, standard coal and 10 tons of water are needed to convert 1000 kg gasoline and diesel oil, and more than 1000 kg of sewage is discharged. The amount of carbon dioxide discharged is 7-10 times that of crude oil refineries. In the coal to gas industry, 1 ton of standard coal is needed to produce 1110 cubic meters of natural gas, but 6 tons of water is needed. The carbon dioxide emission of coal to natural gas is 7 times that of traditional natural gas plants; Whether coal to oil and coal to gas are the poison or good prescription of coal energy needs to be comprehensively balanced and orderly carried out.
